How to Quickly Get Targeted Twitter Followers

I have created many twitter accounts…. some with great success, some without. What I’m going to share with you now is a method I used to build up several accounts to over 5000+ followers. Strike that…. TARGETED followers. And it cost me NOTHING. And it will cost you nothing either.

Let me say this first before I get started. This is an account that will build many, many followers that you can market to. BUT (Always a but, right?)… This isn’t the account you want to build your brand (YOU, Inc.) with. This is a way to drive targeted traffic to your lead capture system. I wouldn’t create your personal twitter account this way. This is an account to setup, and AUTOMATE!

First I will show you how to setup the account. This account should be filled with keywords that will attract the type of prospect you are looking for. For this example I will show you how to get MLM and network marketing prospects chasing you. This will work with any type of prospects/customers you are looking to attract…just change the keywords.

Create a new account. For the name I sometimes use “Network Marketing” and the user name should also be something your looking for… This time I chose socialmediaray. So in this example, if someone is searching for network marketing or social media…. You will be in those results.

Now it’s time to adjust your settings. MORE KEYWORDING. Notice the BIO portion of my profile. Absolutely full of keywords. These perform well in both searches within twitter, and the search engines. The trick here is to fill your profile with the keywords which you are trying to attract.

Ok. Now we go looking for our targets. Click on Find People and search the main keyword. For this is example, we are looking for MLM.

On this search result screen is where I used to make my largest mistake. Typically the results come back and show those with the most followers first. The mistake I used to make was to go down the list from top to bottom and follow all of them. Look at the picture and I will show you why that just isn’t the most effective method. There is a timestamp on the last tweet of each profile showing up in the search. The easiest way to tell if a profile is really active is when they last tweeted. (Makes sense, right?) So… Look at the 3rd result here. 2009. Not exactly recent. SO… look for the top profile with a recent tweet and click on them. For this example it is @mlm_leads (your welcome for the free promo).

Ok, now click on this profile’s followers. The top profile is the LATEST person to follow him. Which means #1 They are probably an active account and #2 they show interest in the MLM keyword. To me that means they are the people I’m looking to market to. Here comes the tedious portion (and the only affiliate link embedded into the entire post)…

Navigate around a bit and make sure your settings are configured to auto follow everyone who follows you, and to send a DM (Direct Message) to each person who follows you. Ok, back to the followers of mr @mlm_leads (another free plug). Start at the top and click on the first 2000 profiles. Yes it will feel like your fingers may fall off… but what are you accomplishing here? probably 1500-1800 Followers… 1500-1800 direct messages with your link… and you now will rank higher in twitter friend finder since you have more friends…. All of these compounding with each other means each and every day you will have more followers (and almost all of them will be interested in MLM).
